Prior to the meeting, we will need to obtain some basic information from you, and you will be required to make payment arrangements in advance.

No. We charge our normal billable rates for all client meetings, billed in tenths of an hour, with a minimum of 1 hour for initial client meetings. Unless you have a retainer with our firm, payment is required at the time our services are performed. Our current rates can be found at www.westshortlawfirm.com/rates.html. Most initial client meetings take about an hour. Should the meeting take longer than an hour, you will be responsible for the prorated amount as well. All payments are due upon completion of services rendered.

Yes. Like other firms, we pass through any expenses we incur in working on your matter to you. This would include such matters as filing fees, arbitrator fees, mediator fees, expert fees, copy fees (at 25 cents per page), postage and delivery expenses, research database fees, and facsimile fees (at $1.00 per page).

Please bring with you any and all documents that are pertinent to your issue, and a method of payment for the meeting.

Before any work begins, we typically require a retainer, which is placed in a trust account regulated by the State Bar of Texas. Our invoices are then prepared on a monthly basis. Your retainer will be used to pay your invoice, and you will be advised of your retainer balance, and will be required to fully replenish your retainer by the 15th of the month as reflected in each monthly invoice. Any portion of your retainer remaining after the conclusion of the matter for which we have been hired will be refunded to you. The amount of your retainer is subject to increase at any time, depending upon the work that is necessary.

We are always evaluating resumes.
